Some Scheduling

Japan is different in how and when schools are run. It's pretty much all year round, with more breaks than America has. The last day of this last school year was in March sometime, so right now they have a break.

Until school starts, we are doing things like getting to know our co-workers (the other ALTs that are part of Culex), demo lessons, training, meeting the mayor, meeting the principals, seeing where our schools are, etc. That will be what most of the next two weeks consists of. I have not met any teachers I'll be working with, nor have I met any students I'll teach. The new school year starts on April 13th.

This Friday the other 3 new ALTs and I have to do a full 45 minute demo lesson in front of our co-workers. It's going to be pretty embarrassing, I think (so wish me luck), but it's good to see others here doing some today. Everyone participates and has fun, so it shouldn't be too bad. Most of these people have been working here as ALTs for several years! I'm the youngest here, too (the others are upper twenties and lower thirties!).

So other than kind of feeling like the baby of the bunch, I feel like I'm fitting in very well!
